And the Angel of the Lord said to her:
“Behold, you are with child,
And you shall bear a son.
You shall call his name Ishmael,
Because the Lord has heard your affliction.
[Genesis 16:11]
Sometimes, our mind plays tricks on us. It tells us to that God isn’t interested in our affairs. However, this can never be the case. If He cares for the little, insignificant sparrow, then He certainly watches over us also.
Hagar was just a poor, helpless and hapless maid. She was most probably uneducated. However, God located her right in the wilderness with words of assurance. It’s possible to live in the wilderness, while surrounded by friends, spouse, family and children. One can live in the wilderness right in a five-bedroom mansion, sleeping on the coziest bed. The same God will locate us also in our wilderness. Praise God!
The Psalmist says,
“For He [God] looked down from the height of His sanctuary; from heaven the Lord viewed the earth, to hear the groaning of the prisoner, to release those appointed to death” (Psalm 102:19&20). We break the prisons and cancel every appointment with death in the Name of Jesus!
David says, “But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever” (Psalm 52:8). The olive tree lives for up to one thousand years, producing fruits during its long life. I’m told some in the Garden of Gethsemane are over 2000 years old! David says he’s still evergreen, despite all he’s been through.
Ron Kenoly’s song says:
I still have joy
I still have joy
After all I’ve been through
I still have joy
I still have peace
I still have peace
After all I’ve been through
I still have peace
May we remain evergreen, no matter what life throws at us. May the Lord hear our groaning and see our affliction. May He send us help from His Holy Sanctuary in the Name of Jesus. Amen
