The Original Mandate Stands

1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. 

2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.” 

3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying: 

4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.

Myles Munroe used to say that “Mistake cannot cancel purpose”.  God is steadfast. He’s ever faithful to His promises.  As we can see from the above scripture, God hasn’t changed the original plan He had for Abraham. Abraham’s mistake was considered by God as a mere blip. God is still committed to ensuring that He performs His good Word in the life of Abraham.

Friends, despite our imperfections, the Lord is still with us. He hasn’t given up on us. Bible says,

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22&23)

David’s adultery, Moses’ murder of the Egyptian, Saul’s (Paul’s) persecution of the church, Peter’s denial of Christ did not change the mind of God. His purposes for these people came to pass, regardless. God always looks at the end product, while humans look at one’s past and present. There’s still hope for us, despite our horrible blunders.

May the Lord look beyond our faults and perform His good Word in our lives as well. Amen.
